There is an ongoing discussion for a humongous building near the intersection of Kettner & Vine in San Diego to house up to one thousand homeless people. According to San Diego Interventionist and Crisis Coach Scott H Silverman, the project will not be a success.
The reasons that it won’t be successful according to Scott is that what the unhoused need is more than just a ‘prison like’ accommodation, but more personalized interventions, treatment, and a continuum of care. The project will cost a billion dollars over the course of the next 30 years and Scott thinks the money can be more usefully spent on other services.
