Scott H. Silverman, who has been involved in San Diego’s homeless struggle for many years, recently appeared on KUSI Good Morning San Diego to discuss the proposed $1 billion mega homeless shelter.
“Putting a thousand people in a brick-and-mortar building is like putting them in a jail cell,” said Silverman. Scott’s concerns are about a lack of transparency with the organizations who are purchasing the land and funding the project, and as usual, whether or not the root issues that the homeless people need help with will be addressed by this structure. At its worst, it could be considered a “prison,” which will be located dangerously between two commuting arteries.
