Scott H. Silverman was on KUSI news this week to discuss the urgent need to recognize Recovery Month and that people are self-medicating at record levels, especially since the COVID shutdown era.
“[Addiction is] not generational, it’s not zip-code specific, it goes everywhere and it’s impacting a a lot of people.”
Regarding the border, Scott had this to say, “We make this such a border issue, but if there wasn’t such a demand here that it wouldn’t be coming across the border.” Scott went on to discuss the skyrocketing numbers of fentanyl seizures, which indicate that there is even more that is successfully crossing the border.
Therefore, Scott explained, the solution is in education and prevention of our own populace, helping young people make better decisions, and helping older people who might be addicted to their pain medication.
There is some news though, according to Scott, “There is hope and there is help. Addiction is treatable, just like diabetes, and we should spend more time talking about it.”
